Bruce MacDonald
Vermont
Bruce R. MacDonald has been a metalsmith and design fiend for over twenty years trying to make sense of the
collision of creative impulse and mechanical reality.
BRM Design is currently four hard working humans with almost all the metalwork a result of Bruce's time and effort
and the excellent skills of his good friend Toby who has been working with Bruce for ten years. Of course they use
high tech equipment but there is a great deal of centuries' old metalworking techniques in the BRM shop. Good
design is the law at BRM, and making people smile is an added bonus. Bruce and crew are dedicated to making
sculpture and art that performs.

Behold the Spiceship!
(Brushed Aluminum Rocket on the left, Cherry center and
Maple in front.)
What may at first glance appear to be a tiny rocketship is
in reality a finely honed, hand-powered machine of
impeccable ergonomics, engineered to reduce
peppercorns to their chosen fate - the powdery dust
perfect on poached eggs, the coarser pungent grounds
for saucy sauces, or the cracked spice bombs of flavor
preferred in the salad bowl.
The Spiceship is first and foremost a sleek sculpture
with stainless steel fins. Based on the aerodynamic
theories of the master craft builders of the Oort Outer
Moons, Brancusian geometry and design studies of old
comic books, this shape is the idealized spiceship -
perfect in the hands, graceful to the eye, wind tunnel
tested, containing the world's finest mechanism (literally)
with a lifetime warranty, coveted by all, built by hand.
To grind, grab the Spiceship body in one fist and the
nosecone in the other and twist back and forth
vigorously. To precisely tune the grind, twist the small tail
cone on the bottom moving the turbine engine in or out.
Love your Rocket. It will serve you well.
These are fully tested in the rigors of restaurant use as
well as the kitchens of TV chefs and were the recipient of
a Niche Design Award in 2001.
The real deal folks. Looks nice in sets too - the Armada
concept. When design books review the past hundred
years, one will find a Spiceship.
For a salt companion try a solo Zoomee or a pair of
Zoomees.

Zoomees
Dimensions: 3"H x 2.25"dia
Then, of course, there are Zoomees. This model is
the SST - stainless steel twins - two standing
defiantly, one for salt, one for pepper, all for one.
These salt and peppers embody the elegant
convergence of material poetry and industrial design.
BRM Spiceships are crafted to exacting tolerances
from the ideal materials: hand-brushed stainless
steel and the classic 24k gold plate. They are
designed to sparkle indefinitely, impervious to the
rigors of intergalactic travel and salt.
Replenish by unscrewing the tiny ball on top.
Aliens sold separately.
Zoomee Twin Pair $52
Zoomee Squiggle
Dimensions: 3"H x 2.25"dia.
This model is the SSQ - one for salt on
guard, one for pepper having a much needed
rest.
Replenish by unscrewing the tiny ball on top.
Remember to align the holes on the
lounging Zoomee with the heavens.

Zoomee Companion
Dimensions: 4.5"H x 2.25"dia
This Zoomee is the salt companion for our
Rocket Spiceship.
As the outrider for the larger ships, they
operate in scout mode - fully operational in
support positions, able to dispense salt at a
moment's notice yet durable in their
stainless and chrome trim for eons of service.
This all silver livery is most appropriate with
the Brushed Rocket Spiceship.
They also explain why one needs a whole
crew of pilots, see Aliens.
Aliens are sold separately.

Aliens
Born from shiny Unobtainium, these little
guys will make sure your tabletop is secure.
A whole weird little crew, all different. Sound
familiar? Kind of like my house. Kind of like
our planet.
Work it out people. Love each other and
our little plot of alien dirt.
M&M is not included....

Dimensions: 4"L x 4"W x 1.5"H
Mantas are conceived as small architecture for the table top, simple elegant structures,
all curves and smooth lines. Salt and pepper have never had a cleaner, more graceful
home.
Each module is formed of heavy gauge stainless steel into a delicate, yet nearly
indestructible shape (parents take note!). Though metal, the sensuous lines evoke full
sails, sea creatures, soaring birds... BRM hand brushes each one with their trademark
random strokes to make fingerprints invisible. Clean with hot soapy water and a soft
cloth. Dry. Fly
